During severe weather events RI ARES participates with the National Weather Service at Boston/Norton’s Skywarn Self Activation. RI ARES participants should report weather damage, severe flooding, closed streets, etc.
During Skywarn activations NWS Boston/Norton WX1BOX normally requests reports on the Quahog Network which is normally linked to the NB1RI Network. In the event the repeater Network goes down or is malfunctioning, the backup Skywarn repeater is 146.76 – 67.0Hz
Reports can also be made on NEDECN DMR repeaters using SKYWARN (TG 759) which is monitored by both the Boston/Norton and Gray, ME National Weather Service offices during severe weather.
